Pigeon Pea - Tuvar or Arhar as it is known in India, is a staple legume found in dishes across India. It is known for its high potassium content and good amount of protein and Vitamin A.

Usage
It can be made into a very light delicious dal or soup with vegetables, which is easily digested. A poultice made with the seeds is known to reduce swellings. Concious Food's tuvar dal can be used to make staple dishes such as yellow dal and sambar or more specialised dishes like puran poli. Tuvar daal cooks easy and is used mostly in South and West regions of India. Thuvar daal is prepared with a simple tempering of jeera or with onions, tomato, green or dry red chillies. In the south it is mostly used for making sambar.
